My blockprint work is an ongoing research into how small forms can be fragmented, repeated, and recombined to generate organic imagery. Each module shifts slightly with every impression, multiplying into figures that resemble one another yet remain distinct. The patterns evoke plants, animals, and imagined organisms, forming a tentative ecosystem that grows through repetition and variation. The block operates less as a fixed tool and more as a responsive matrix, producing different outcomes depending on pressure, ink density, and the texture of the paper.
This research examines how forms divide, create rhythm, and begin to build genealogies. As the modules connect and mutate, they assemble into structures that echo the self-organizing logic of living systems. Although all impressions originate from a single block, each repetition acquires its own sense of vitality, gradually forming a cluster of related yet individual images. The work remains open-ended, allowing the system to evolve as new combinations and variations emerge.
